TAKA II REFURBISHMENT

Taka II has been in the shipyard for the past 4 weeks undergoing a major refurbishment. It was decided, with the imminent sale of Taka III, to take the opportunity to upgrade the accommodation facilities on Taka II, as well as a total blast and paint, with some structural modifications. The 2 upstairs cabins have been reworked with new fabrics and both now have private ensuite shower / toilets installed. The galley has been updated and new carpet fitted throughout the main deck level. She has just finished her 1st trip after the refit, and everybody appears to be very pleased with the results.

UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE AND EQUIPMENT

Taka Dive has initiated a new camera course system that utilizes our own local knowledge to put together a course that not only provides a sound knowledge of Underwater Photographic principles but also ensures divers use our local knowledge to get some great photos. We have brand new Nikonos V cameras, with Sea & Sea strobes available for our customers to use in the photo course or hire on board.

WHALE SEASON

The June / July whale season is almost upon us with Taka II being THE boat to dive from to meet these gentle giants. Either of our 2 departures each week visit the whale's favorite site, where we just happen to have our own private mooring. For the best chance of an encounter with these giants of the ocean we suggest travelling in the last 2 weeks of June and the Ist 3 weeks of July.

NEW PHOTOGRAPHIC BOOK - METAMORPHOSEA

This entire book was shot from Taka II on the one reef (Temple of Doom) over a 24 hour period. The date was July 16th, 1995, and a team of 5 photographers each spent over 8 hours underwater in the 24 hour period photographing an amazing array of marine life. Even Minke Whales made a brief appearance to get into the book. We will have copies of the book available for viewing at all our future trade show and agent calls.
